Wow

- Very good pose
- Nice drawing style, rough, like the character it depicts
- Although rough, there is still a lot to see in the picture, nice details

thanks for the bullet points mate

Exellent

Just like the completed picture. I believe with this kind of picture, the 'message' is in the pose. You could have added 4 tons of armour, a sword as large as himself and a score of dead corpses around him. But you created the same imposing effect just with his stance.
At least this is what I'm concentrating on in my own art (2 pieces to go and I'll be able to post them on NG!). I'm currently trying to draw semi-realistic characters from the Japanese Endo era. I spent most of the drawing time on developing the pose, the rest seems just filling in the details. :-)

i will check those out man

Very, very good

The robe is amazingly done! You show that a knight can look really cool without tons of armour. The pose is very well done as well, no need for this knight to raise his weapons, he looks threatening just standing there.

One slight criticism if I may: the sword looks to short or the perspective of it didn't work. I see a very long handle for 2 hands with a heavy pommel, stil the blade looks too short to balance out. Come to think of it, you could make it a single handed sword to go with the shield, with a longer blade to create an even more realistic picture?

Did I mention already that the robe is awesome? :-)

dommi-fresh responds:

yes you did ha ha
thanks for the critique i agree about the sword it is way to short but if you watch monty pythons holy at the bit with the black knight you will notice the sword that i was trying to copy

Impressive!

I've done some drawings of futuristic / realistic soldiers myself and my attention was immediately drawn when I came across your picture.
The parts I most liked:
- Crouching stance
- Helmet details
- Assault rifle / carbine

In these type of drawings the soldiers gear is very important I believe. The equipment he's carrying makes a lot of the details and the difficult part is that the gear has to believable. It has to look useful.

Some suggestions:
- A sling for the rifle
- Magazine pouch (just google images 'magazine pouch' and you'll know what I mean)

dommi-fresh responds:

thanks man thats some useful shit.
although i am not going to go to far into the whole military theme stuff yet.
